We recommend scheduling your pickup at least two to three weeks in advance for Ohio shipments. This gives carriers time to bundle your vehicle with others heading in the same direction, which helps keep costs down.
Winter weather is Ohio's biggest scheduling factor. From November through March, ice storms and heavy snow can cause delays on interstates like I-75, I-71, and I-90. If you're shipping during winter months, book even earlier—aim for three to four weeks out. Carriers may need extra time to route around weather events or adjust schedules.
Summer heat waves (typically July and August) can also affect carrier availability, though delays are usually minor. Carriers sometimes reduce routes during extreme heat to protect vehicles and equipment.
College season (August and May) sees increased demand in Ohio, especially around major universities like Ohio State, Case Western, and University of Cincinnati. If you're shipping during move-in or move-out periods, book three weeks ahead to secure a carrier.
The sooner you book, the better. Even if you don't need your car for a month, posting your shipment immediately gives carriers more flexibility to find the best route for you. This is especially true if you're shipping from rural areas of Ohio, where fewer carriers run regular routes.
Bottom line: Two weeks is our minimum recommendation, but three weeks gives you the best chance of getting a reliable carrier and competitive pricing—no matter the season.
